1. Before your stay

The organisational structure of international affairs: At the University of Freiburg international affairs are divided into different independent offices: There is the EU Office, in charge of the Erasmus programme and general applications of incoming Erasmus students (home page of the EU Office).

And then there is the Law Faculty's International Office ("Auslandsbüro" in German) specifically for law students. Your Departmental Erasmus Coordinator who can help you with questions about law studies is Dr. Sybille Schneiders (home page of the Law Faculty's International Office). Before coming to Freiburg

  • you need to provide evidence of sufficient knowledge of the German language: a level of at least A2 as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
  • You and the departmental coordinator of your home institution need to compile a study programme (the so-called Learning Agreement). At least four weeks before the beginning of the semester, the Learning Agreement is to be submitted for signature to .
  • You can find the course catalogue on the HISinOne page. Go to "Studienangebot" then "Vorlesungsverzeichnis anzeigen" Note: Please change the setting to winter semester 2018/19 and look up your law courses under: "Staatsexamen > Rechtswissenschaften (Erste juristische Prüfung)".
  • If the semester you need is not yet online, please use the course catalogue of last year (winter semester 2018/19 --> winter semester 2017/18). You can change and adjust your learning agreement upon your arrival here in Freiburg.

2. During your stay

  • Please transfer changes to your Learning Agreement directly to the departmental coordinator of your home institution.
  • At the end of the semester we will announce the arrival of your "Scheine" (exam results) on our website under News. We will then register your results in your Transcript of Records.
  • If the Transcript is not completed at the end of your stay please inform us about the date of your departure and leave us your home address. We will then send you your Transcript.


3. After your stay

  • Please stay in touch with us via e-mail until you have safely received your Transcript of Records.
